Farmers Market Update

group of men in band

There's no official name for the band, but the musical talents of this group of artists from Broulee always bring joy to the market.  It was so wonderful to have them back and playing the post lockdown blues.

In the last month we welcomed two new families to the SAGE Farmers Market.  Alana and Ben from Tara Distillery made a splash when they joined us in October - it turns out there are quite a few gin lovers in Moruya!  Aside from Gin they also make liqueurs and vodka.  I highly recommend their Limoncello which they distill with the lemons from one very old and high yielding tree growing in Sussex Inlet.  These young distillers are only quite fresh to the brewing world but have recently won Silver at the London Spirit 2021 Awards, a great accomplishment for a young Australian distillery competing against internationals.

We also welcome Zeke, Jane-lee and Huxley who have taken over Don Smith's asparagus farm.  Don is still in touch and is on call to help Zeke and Jane-lee during the transition as this is their first year of harvest.  They were shocked by the popularity of their crop and were inundated with customers even while they were still setting up at their first market.  The following week they brought as much as they could harvest and still sold out.  Fantastic news to have a young farming family join us!

Coming soon ... potatoes are almost ready for harvest at Deua River Produce and Upriver Garlic returns!

Hope you are all staying safe and healthy.

See you at Riverside Park on Tuesday afternoons

Farewell to Queen Street Growers

It was the surf that first attracted Tim Saffery to the far South Coast of NSW, but it was ‘the River’ restaurant that lured him to Moruya from Melbourne, where he had been ‘young chef of the year’ in 2003.
